Puppy bones are soft and can be injured more easily than adults. We have a poster on our studio wall you can check out next time you are in class. Until then, here is a great resource for ideas on what kind of activity is safe for each age.
Yes, but we ask you request your initial constellation by calling 816-694-9296 to set up your first appointment before purchasing any packages.
We try to follow the Kansas City, MO mask regulations. Because we have some clients with health vulnerabilities, we ask that you be prepared to wear a mask for class. All students will be seated on benches placed 6 feet apart for comfort and safety. During upticks in covid surges, we also spray each bench between classes to reduce the chance of virus transmission.
As of this past year, TSA no longer approves travel exceptions for an ESA (emotional support animal). The only dogs allowed to fly with you are Service Dogs. By definition, these dogs must be trained to offer a behavior in support of a disability. If you would like to travel with your ESA, we will work with you only AFTER you can provide a professional letter to the TSA to legally attest that you in fact have a disability requiring a service dog. Please do not ask us to fake a certification for your family pet.
We will be closed the week of Thanksgiving, and then will be closed from Christmas Eve through the first 2 weeks of January.
We love having kids in class! Its helps them learn to work with your pup, and it helps out other families that may not have the opportunity to introduce their pup to kids. We do ask your child be old enough that he or she can focus on puppy training.
We allow up to 2 family members in class with your pup.
No, we offer different times to make it convenient for people on different schedules. Choose the weekly time that works best for your schedule.
Yes, please bring your pups favorite treats. Preferably they should be crunchy and very small so that your puppy will eat them quickly. Because of COVID protocol, we had to retire our popular class treat trolley.
For Puppy Start Right class, bring your pup on a flat buckle, or martingale collar or a secure harness. You will need a 6 foot leash, NO RETRACTIBLE LEASHES PLEASE.
You should also bring some small, yummy treats to pay your pup for all his hard work!
We have converted our Orientation to a YouTube presentation. You are sent the link when you buy the package,,… and can view the link at your leisure. We recommend at least a couple of days ahead, so that you can get started training your first behavior.
Go to your e-mail confirmation. There will be a clickable link to RESCHEDULE. You class credits are swapped to the new date.
For our modular classes, yes you purchase the class package first. Then you can sign up for dates or reschedule as needed. Your class credits will allow you to reserve your slot in that days class.
A clicker is simply a tool within a technique. It’s job is to teach a new skill. Once the dog has learned that skill, the clicker has done its job. When you tell your dog to sit, he sits. You can always bring the clicker back out to improve a behavior – like add duration to a sit, get a faster response, teach more precise positioning for obedience. Your dog will think he is playing when that clicker comes out. Hopefully, this will be a game you play for life.
We stock low calorie gluten-free treats for class use. If you are concerned about potential weight gain, we encourage you to hold back a percentage of your dog’s food for use in training. Remember, the goal of clicker training is to fade the use of food as your dog has learned new behaviors. There are plenty of reinforcers in life that will keep your dog happy to work with you. Food its usually the easiest way to start.
No problem, simply sign up for the dates you can attend and use your class code to reserve your slot.
Most of our classes are designed for rolling enrollment. You can start when it is convenient for you. Any classes with a specific start stop date will be labeled LINEAR in the description.
