Don’t forget that as roads and sidewalks are treated for this snow and ice,  treatment to melt that ice can potentially burn your dogs feet. Look for paw friendly ice melt to use at home. If you see your dog lick his paws after a walk, take extra care to wash his feet. the salt can both irritate his feet and create some nasty diarrhea if the dog licks the salt compaound.

If you are not a fan of paw boots, try paw wax. Pet stores and online sources will have some readily available Paw Wax to use to protect from irritation.
